Canada Post Strike
Keeping you informed: New updates to you and your customers during Canada Post National Strike
Updated information as of August 6, 2025.
Due to ongoing concerns related to labour negotiations at Canada Post, we are taking proactive steps to help minimize potential service disruptions.
Effective Thursday, July 31, 2025, all Canada Post Registered Letters of cancellation have moved to UPS for delivery. Additionally, critical Statutory Accident Benefits Schedule (SABS) claims letters will be delivered via UPS rather than Registered Mail.
Please note, all other mail remains unchanged, which includes refund or claims cheques. Cheques and any documents not specified above will also continue to be mailed through Canada Post.
Should Canada Post’s position change, our processes may be adjusted accordingly.
We will keep our broker partners and customers informed through our website as new information becomes available.
Policy Documentation (Below was updated on November 15):
Due to the Canada Post strike effective November 15, 2024, most policyholder documents that would typically be mailed via Canada Post will be delayed until the strike ends.
Please see exceptions that apply as outlined below:
Billing:
If you are a Gore Mutual customer making payments by cheque, please deliver it to your local Brokerage office. Brokers will forward it to the Gore Mutual head office by courier.
Please note the re-issuance of stale-dated cheques will be suspended until the strike ends.
Claims:
We are strongly encouraging both our broker partners and customers to use electronic communications and payments to minimize any disruptions caused by the strike.
If you are receiving an auto or property Claims payments, an adjuster will reach out to you directly to discuss alternative options. The preferred option for payment is electronic. Where not possible, claim cheques will be issued and couried to you.
If you are receiving weekly accident cheque benefit payments, so please contact your adjuster and make alternative arrangements during the strike.
However, certain critical or regulatory letters will continue to be delivered to customers directly via courier.
Customers can contact us at 1-844-974-GORE(4673).
Pending or Final Cancellations:
During the strike, as per the Insurance Act, all registered mail of pending or final cancellation notices will be delivered via courier. The courier will require a signature to confirm delivery. After two delivery attempts, the notice will be held at the courier facility until it is returned to Gore Mutual. We are actively seeking alternative methods to send your documents in a timely manner as the strike progresses.
All Other Mail:
All non-essential mail that is not outlined above will be held at Gore Mutual until the strike has been resolved. For any mail that needs to be sent to Gore Mutual, please use email. Courier services can continue as usual.
Additional services available to our Broker partners and customers:
Customers can continue to pay by credit card on goremutual.ca (without sending card details via email), or, if this option isn’t available, please contact our Billing Team at 1-844-974-GORE (4673) for assistance. Additionally, customers can make payments via internet banking, phone banking, or through a bank teller by selecting Gore Mutual Insurance as the payee and using their policy number as the account number.
If you are a broker using eDocs, you will continue to receive policy documents as usual, while those with Guidewire access can view policy declarations, update policies, and make payments online.
We will continue to keep our broker partners and customers updated through our website as the strike continues.
