Learn how Gore Mutual’s partnership with Wildfire Defence Systems provides eligible policyholders with proactive support when wildfires threaten their properties.

Through Gore Mutual's partnership with Wildfire Defence Systems (WDS), eligible policyholders can receive proactive support when wildfire threatens their property. WDS teams deploy on-the-ground mitigation measures designed to help reduce wildfire risk and protect homes before damage occurs.

During the 2026 wildfire season, WDS teams successfully assessed and secured 38 Gore Mutual-insured properties in wildfire-affected areas across British Columbia. Working directly with homeowners, WDS teams assessed property vulnerabilities and implemented practical wildfire mitigation measures, including:

  • Fuel mitigation and debris removal
  • Moving combustible materials away from structures
  • Taping vents and helping protect properties from ember intrusion
  • Deploying and maintaining temporary sprinkler systems
  • Completing homeowner vulnerability assessments

Most importantly, none of the assessed properties were reported damaged during these visits. The results demonstrate how preparation, timely intervention, and practical mitigation measures can help protect policyholders and their properties.
