As wildfires continue to spread across British Columbia, we want to remind our broker partners of our partnership with Wildfire Defense Systems (WDS) to protect policyholders of residential and commercial building properties in British Columbia from the imminent threat of wildfires.
Here’s how Gore’s partnership with WDS provides industry-leading protection at no extra cost:
What is Wildfire Defense Systems, Inc. (WDS)?
Wildfire Defense Systems (WDS) is a company that provides services to protect communities and natural resources from wildfires. They specialize in proactive measures to reduce wildfire risk.
What services does WDS use to protect properties from wildfire threats?
WDS is a leader in private wildfire services. They offer professional wildfire consulting and federally certified emergency response wildfire suppression services. They also provide wildfire risk mitigation strategies and work with clients across all sectors to design or implement systems that manage and reduce wildfire risk.
How does WDS work to prevent wildfire damage?
The WDS response service package is a comprehensive wildfire loss prevention strategy that includes pre- and post-fire-front mitigation tactics. It has been used in more than 1,300 wildfire responses on behalf of insurers.
WDS uses a combination of advanced data analytics, cutting-edge risk modelling techniques, and on-the-ground resources to identify and mitigate risks before they become major issues.
Do I need to contact WDS when a wildfire occurs?
All residential and commercial building policyholders of Gore Mutual in British Columbia have access to this program. There is no action required by any policyholder—Gore Mutual will work directly with WDS to automatically provide assistance during an imminent wildfire evacuation event.
This partnership not only reflects our dedication to protecting lives and properties but also addresses broader environmental concerns while keeping catastrophe costs down. As the 2024 wildfire season continues, we're proud to stand alongside WDS in ensuring the safety and security of our customers’ properties.
