Strengthening Our Commercial Capabilities
This year we’re working hard to change the perception that Gore Mutual only offers small business products. In fact, we can do much more. To help our broker partners grow their businesses, we’re expanding our appetite and continuing to develop our commercial underwriting capabilities.
“We’re expanding our commercial appetite so that we can look at mid-size businesses in targeted segments, such as manufacturing and wholesaling,” says Regional Sales Manager Sarah Hainer. “In the first quarter of this year, we saw a 20% increase of binds in these segments.
“Our new Commercial Underwriters are a wealth of knowledge,” she adds. “They each have significant underwriting experience in manufacturing and wholesale. That’s why we’re now able to look at submissions on larger manufacturing and wholesaler accounts. We know we have the experience behind us.”
Strong underwriting is also driving considerable growth in our Commercial Auto Department and we’re focused on sustainable pricing in our Fleet, Garage and IRCA lines. We’re quoting business to get it and keep it – which is evidenced by our 92% retention rate. Our book of business includes contractors, manufacturers and wholesalers and we're working closely with our brokers to expand our appetite.
“Our submission volume has increased significantly this year," says Commercial Auto Manager Melissa Ally. “We continue to work closely with our broker partners to expand our appetite and grow profitably. We want to know what’s going on in our brokers' offices, what challenges they're facing and how we can help them.”
Ally adds that delivering top-quality service to our brokers is incredibly important to our Commercial Auto Team. Each brokerage has a dedicated Auto Underwriter who is happy to work with them in whichever way best suits their needs.
“It’s definitely an exciting time at Gore Mutual,” says Hainer. “We’re expanding our appetite and working with brokers to find the best solutions for their customers.”
